Even though Nightline airs on ABC (a network owned by Disney) and Zero Dark Thirty is being distributed by Columbia (a company owned by Sony), the popular news show nevertheless did a story on Zero Dark Thirty, Kathyrn Bigelow’s highly anticipated recreation of the Abbottabad raid, despite not having a direct financial incentive for doing so.

Among the revelations in the five-minute-long piece: reporter Martha Raddatz found the film to be “riveting”, screenwriter Mark Boal did not, to the best of his knowledge, receive any classified information from the Obama administration concerning the Bin Laden raid, and director Kathryn Bigelow used ABC’s post-raid footage of the Bin Laden compound to help construct an exact replica of the building in Jordan.
