Remember that time Megan Fox got fired from Transformers 3 for comparing Michael Bay to Hitler? You, me, and everybody else on the planet assumed that that meant that Fox and Bay would never work together again, but we were all wrong.

According to Michael Bay himself on his blog, Fox is set to appear as April O’Neil in the upcoming reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, which is being produced by Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans, Battle Los Angeles).

If you were born in the 80’s like me you don’t need to be told this, but TMNT focuses on four turtles who become anthropomorphic when they come in contact with radioactive ooze. Living in the sewer, they train with the anthropomorphic rat Splinter, and battle various bad guys, most notably Shredder (alright, Krang was pretty good too in the cartoon). Although we can all agree that basic plot outline is the way it should be, Bay has already announced that his version recasts the Turtles and Splinter as aliens from another dimension.

Anyway, in the original cartoon series April O’Neil is a TV reporter who befriends the Turtles. In most if not all incarnations of the series she had red hair and almost always wore a yellow jumpsuit and white boots – Fox’s costume better match that description perfectly or people are going to freak out even more.

TMNTĀ is currently scheduled for a 2014 release.
