You know what would suck about having so much money that you could afford to spend $172,000 on Chewie’s head?

Um, nothing.

The head, which was used during production of the original Star Wars trilogy and is therefore quite likely sweaty, stinky, and gross, was sold over the weekend at a Profiles in History prop auction. Despite the economy, the auction turned out to be a seller’s market, as the head was originally only expected to fetch the low, low price of $80,000.

Other Star Wars items sold at the auction included a blaster rifle, for $104,550 and the original concept art for the poster below, which sold for $73,800.

In case you’re curious, the most expensive Star Wars prop ever sold was a TIE fighter miniature used in Star Wars: A New Hope, which went for $350,000 back in 2008.
