Back in 2010, two friends, Jonason Pauley and Jesse Perrotta, decided to re-create Pixar’s original Toy Story shot-by-shot in their homes using just a camcorder, some toys, and some string. Three years later, their work is complete.

The filmmakers, who are just 19 and 21 years old, uploaded the film to YouTube a few days ago, and already it has amassed over three million views. So far, the response among YouTube commenters has been ecstatic. “Amazing!!!” reads one comment. “It’s perfect, from the first to the last scene! It made me cry many times! The cast singing the theme song together was amazing!” reads another.

Why the movie took three years to make should be obvious from the outset. Perfectly synching up their footage with the original soundtrack, the filmmakers have painstakingly re-created all 80 minutes of the Pixar classic—an accomplishment which makes that guy who animated scenes from Super Mario Bros with 7000 post-it notes look lazy in comparison.
